正立ミラーシステム(EMS)を開発した松本龍郎のサイト。 たった2回の反射で天体望遠鏡の像を正立像にします。

The theory of the EMS is more universal than you have expected. Many of you know that a pair of 60-deg mirror units will make a right-angled erecting mirror system; EMS.But few of you seem to understand there are as many answers for as many index angle’s pair. To tell the conclusion, the pair of the right angle mirror and the EMS unit will make the non-reversed upright image at the viewing angle of 120 deg.
I found the “Hybrid Binoscope Project” to be splendidly successful. The image was more than perfect both in sharpness and in the clarity of the field. It has totally kicked off the possible negative estimation of the optical engineers quoting the negative effect of replacing the prisms for the mirrors.
The parts in the left photo will slide as a unit according to the center helicoid system to make a focus. The difference between left and right can be canceled by adjusting the IPD helicoid tubes.
Here are the hints to understand the mechanism.
1. The shaft will not turn.
2. The helicoid inner tube (black part) will not slide, but only turn,
3. the outer tube will not turn, but slide according to the turning of the helidoid tube.
The two oculars this client had sent to me in advance seem to be the best match for this binoscopoe, in my opinion.Koenig 32mm offers specially high contrast and the calarity of the field. Though there was some distortion to be seen, it would be no problem in the night sky.
Swarovsky’s Zoom was superb with this binoscope. No distortion could be seen and gives very clear image to the edge of the field through the full range of the magnifications. The barrels of the both should be cut short so that they would not touch the mirror edge.(See the right photo.)
